Hazlet Township Police Warns Not to Leave Cars Unlocked

In the past month there have been reported car burglaries throughout the Township. All of them involved vehicles that have been left unlocked. Taken were items including personal computer equipment, loose change, cash and wallets. These incidents do occur from time to time in town. The Department of Police recommends that vehicle owners always lock their cars even if parked in your driveway. We also advise that you do not leave valuables inside the vehicle compartment, either bring them inside the home or lock them inside your trunk. Past investigation show that the individuals that commit these crimes are looking for unlocked cars and are usually on foot. They pass by locked cars to get to the unlocked ones. Please notify the Police if you hear or see any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods by calling 732-264-6565.
