Power has been restored to our Police HQ and the Rt 36/Poole Ave. traffic light is now operational.
The only gas station in Hazlet that we can confirm is currently pumping is the Gulf on 35 N. near Toys R Us. They are doing cars and cans. Expect long lines.
A lot of our Township personnel are tied up with issues in Union Beach...as official information comes in it will be continually posted here. Hazlet Township will only post information it can confirm. Thanks for your patience.
*** ICE & WATER NOW AVAILABLE ***
Ice and Water are available starting at 8:30 AM at Holy Family School. YOU MUST enter from Route 36 Southbound at Seagate Avenue. Officials will direct you from there.
Latest update from JCP&L...originally 8,544 Hazlet customers were without power. 1,621 have been restored...6,923 remain without power.
We are in the process of shutting down our Emergency Operations Center for the night. There may be limited updates throughout the night. The Center will be staffed again starting Friday morning. Thank you for your outpouring of support. Good night and stay safe.
Colby Lane Tree Issue
We are aware of the tree down in the roadway on Colby Lane. Since the tree is entangled in power lines it can not be addressed until JCP&L arrives at the scene.
We have an immediate need for the following items:
-Baby items including diapers and formula
-Socks and Shoes...all sizes
These items can be dropped off at any of our collection centers. This is an urgent situation and these items are needed before nightfall if possible. These items are for families from Union Beach/Keyport who have lost everything. Items can be dropped off at Maranatha Baptist Church, St. Benedict's, St. Joseph's, St. Clement's and St. Mary's. Thank you!
