  2. You can either mail the form to Hazlet Recreation 1766 Union Ave. Hazlet, NJ 07730 or drop it off in the Tax Offices deposit slot located to the left of the entrance of Hazlet Town Hall.        
Recreation Advisory Council meetings are held the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Cullen Center.
The Hazlet Township Recreation Department provides a wide variety of services to the community to enrich the quality of life for all residents.

Children's Programs



Day: Mondays & Wednesdays
Location: Cove Road Elementary School, 8 Cove Road, Hazlet. (Directions)
Price: $80.00

The Hazlet Recreation announces Gymnastics for Girls. This high energy class is designed to excite, motivate and stimulate kids who have a desire to learn gymnastic skills. Classes help build strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Correct body positions, form, and technique will be taught. Instruction will be given to students in gymnastics including vaulting, uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise, rings, and ropes. The program will stress safety and fun.

Children must be in Kindergarten.

Girls Ages 5-8  5:40 - 6:40 PM

Amato’s Karate, 589 Palmer Avenue, Hazlet
Saturdays, 6 classes 11:00 am - 11:45 am
$15.00 per session. Plus one time $30 fee for a uniform to be purchased at Amato’s before the session starts.

This class is the perfect introduction to the exciting world of Karate. The class is dedicated to the basics; stances, blocks, kicks, drills, punches and positioning of the arms and feet. Repetition, along with fun moves, shows the students how to succeed in whatever they try. There's more to karate than simply the moves…speed, agility, confidence, self-esteem, how to resolve conflict peacefully, promote healthy bodies and strong minds.

Adult Programs 

Chung Do Kwan 
(Safe - No Contact - Martial Arts) 

White Tigers Chung Do Kwan, LLC 

Learn the Korean art of self-defense. This martial art emphasizes control, safety, and respect.  It is a martial art with training rooted in basic technique, formal exercises, and sparring.   With emphasis on the principles of speed, power, balance, control, and focus, this school follows a strict no-contact philosophy. Students are taught in an environment that encourages teamwork and safety. Classes are safe for all ages and levels of physical abilities.

Studies have shown that activities like Chung Do Kwan, provide the following positive impacts:

  • Physical fitness and improve coordination
  • Self-confidence and respect for others
  • Enables people with ADHD to practice self-control
  • Improves cognitive performance and decreases the risk of dementia
  • Offers Gender Equality - Women and men are equal in the martial arts 

Students of all ages practice safely together with family members and friends.

HIIT class: Thursdays with weights and cardio. Class runs 45 minutes and starts at 7:00 pm and ends at 7:45 pm. Class is timed for each exercise and interval. Great, great class!!!  Burn lots of fat and feel great for the weekend!!

Body Conditioning

The class offers a fitness and strength workout using a mixture of low impact exercises.  This is a great class to get fit with some fun and easy exercises. Mat, water bottle, and sneakers required. Instructor: Leonora “Lee” Coppola.

ALL PROGRAMS: A late fee of $15.00 is applicable. Payment must be made by the last business day prior to the start of any program to avoid this fee. For your convenience, there is a mail slot (tax office)  in the municipal building 1766 Union Avenue on the side near the flag poles.   If the payment is in the box before 8:00 a.m. prior to the start of the program you will not be assessed a late fee.

REFUND POLICY: All Programs: (except summer camp)  a 50% refund will be given prior to the start of a class or program. NO REFUNDS will be given after the class begins. (Medical exception: documentation from a physician is required)  BUS  TRIPS:  No Refunds, as a courtesy, we will try to resell tickets for you only if a waitlist is available.  Summer Camp:  No Refunds except for summer school.
