Hazlet Township is governed by a five member Committee elected by the votes in the November general election to serve three year staggered terms.

The Mayor is elected annually from among the five Committee members.

Mayor David Tinker is a lifelong resident of Hazlet graduating from Raritan School in 1977.  Dave with his wife Mary and their son Matthew reside in the house he grew up in.  Prior to his election to Mayor, Tinker served on the Township Committee where he was elected Deputy Mayor in 2010. He also served on the Planning Board from 2005 through 2010.  He has a B.S in Management Science from Lock Haven State College, Lock Haven, PA.

As a life long resident of Hazlet and West Keansburg, Deputy Mayor Michael Sachs is devoted to serving his community. Currently residing in Hazlet with his wife and two children, Sachs balances his time between home and his community by continuously serving the people within his Township. Owning a small business based out of Hazlet, Sachs himself can relate to other business owners within the town. While this makes him an active member of his community, his efforts do not stop there.

Scott Aagre has been a resident of Hazlet for over twenty-nine years and currently resides in the Township with his wife Regina and their two children. As an active member of the community for many years, Aagre has continuously put forth many efforts to assist and better the Township. Aagre formerly served as chairman on the Hazlet Township Republican Committee.    

As a resident of Hazlet for over forty-five years, Committeeman James Brady can be described as a loyal member of society, always willing to do what it takes to best serve and protect his community. As the president of the East Keansburg Civic Association, Brady has helped turn his Township into a safer place to live an work.
