Public Record Information
Under OPRA, a public record is any paper, written or printed book, document, drawing, map, plan, photograph, microfilm, data processed or image processed document, information stored or maintained electronically or by sound-recording or in a similar device, or any copy thereof, that has been made, maintained or kept on file . . . or that has been received in the course of his or its official business. [N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1.1 }
Our office may be restricted by fulfilling an OPRA request:
- If the record does not exist and one must be created to respond to the request
- Information that could jeopardize computer security
- Personal identifying information. Specifically, Social security numbers, credit card numbers, unlisted phone numbers and drivers license numbers.
- Any record within the attorney-client privilege.
