Apply for Senior Freeze by Dec. 31
The New Jersey State Treasurer's office has extended the deadline for seniors to apply for the NJ Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement).
The Senior Freeze is a property tax relief program that sends a refund check to seniors for property tax payments already made.
The Senior Freeze was paused earlier in the year as part of the Governor Phil Murphy's consideration of reduced tax revenues due to the pandemic.
It was reactivated with the new state budget and given a new deadline to apply,. It is now Dec. 31, 2020. It previously was Nov. 2, 2020.
The State budget that went into effect on October 1, 2020 fully funds the 2019 Senior Freeze program. Payments began being paid to eligible taxpayers October 15, 2020 and continuing on a rolling basis as applications are received.
